Having lived on the Central Coast most of my life and photographed weddings here for the past ten years, I’ve been lucky to experience some of the most beautiful celebrations at Carmel’s finest venues. These are some of my favorite places to photograph weddings, each offering something unique for couples and their guests.
Carmel is a destination that lets couples create a weekend to remember. Beyond the ceremony, guests can enjoy world-class wine tasting, Michelin-star dining, scenic drives, boutique shopping, golf, and countless other experiences that make a wedding weekend here feel like a true escape. Each venue also has its own amenities, from on-site accommodations to tennis courts, golf, and sprawling gardens, making it easy for friends and family to relax, explore, and celebrate together.
Here are some of the venues I love to photograph weddings at in Carmel and Carmel Valley.
Holman Ranch has long been a favorite of mine for its western-chic charm and effortless sophistication. It gives me all the Ralph Lauren vibes, with vineyards, golden hills, and Italian-inspired architecture. The courtyard, vineyard views, and spacious guest accommodations make it perfect for a three-day wedding weekend. Friends and family can stay on property, enjoy the outdoors, and soak in the sun-drenched elegance that makes every photograph feel intentional and timeless.
The Holly Farm feels like a hidden garden tucked into Carmel Valley. Its lush palms, winding stone paths, and intimate spaces make it a delight to photograph. The venue offers versatile areas for outdoor ceremonies, cocktail hours, and dinners, allowing couples to celebrate in style while keeping their weekend relaxed and comfortable for guests.
Pebble Beach Resorts is an icon along the Monterey Peninsula. With sweeping ocean views, elegant ballrooms, and golf courses just steps away, it’s a venue that blends natural beauty and polished sophistication. Guests can stay on property, enjoy world-class dining, and take in the scenery, creating a wedding weekend that feels curated yet effortlessly luxurious.
Mission Ranch embodies coastal charm with its meadows, ocean views, and yes, the famous sheep pasture. The light here is beautiful, casting a glow that feels timeless in photographs. On a lucky day, you may even run into Clint Eastwood himself, who owns the property. With cozy guest accommodations, open lawns, and a relaxed yet refined atmosphere, Mission Ranch makes for a weekend that friends and family will remember for years.
La Playa Hotel sits in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea and feels effortlessly woven into the town itself. Recently restored, the hotel blends historic character with a modern sense of luxury, offering thoughtfully designed guest rooms, refined public spaces, and beautifully updated event areas. The Spanish-influenced architecture and layered interior design give the property a warm, artful feel that feels both elevated and inviting.
Its central location makes it especially appealing for destination weddings, with the beach just steps away and Carmel’s shops, galleries, and restaurants easily walkable for guests. Hosting a wedding at La Playa allows friends and family to stay on-site, creating a cohesive, relaxed experience throughout the weekend. Bud’s Bar is a standout gathering spot, adding an effortlessly cool, aesthetic space for welcome drinks or late-night conversations.

Stonepine feels European-inspired with a distinct old-money aesthetic. Set within the rolling hills of Carmel Valley, the property unfolds across acres of private land, where formal gardens, olive groves, and oak-lined paths create a sense of quiet seclusion. The architecture is timeless and grounded, balancing refined luxury with an ease that feels natural rather than styled.
The equestrian center and horses on property add depth and character, reinforcing the venue’s heritage feel. With multiple event spaces, on-site accommodations, and space for guests to explore throughout the weekend, Stonepine is well suited for couples planning a multi-day wedding experience. The atmosphere here is calm, composed, and effortlessly elevated.
Stonepine Estate is one of my favorite Carmel Valley venues for a full wedding weekend.

Bernardus Lodge feels like a refined retreat tucked into the heart of Carmel Valley. During the summer months, the lush lavender garden is especially striking, adding color, texture, and a sense of calm to the property. Throughout the rest of the year, the gardens remain just as beautiful, offering thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that change with the seasons. With on-site guest accommodations, a spa, and exceptional dining, Bernardus is an ideal setting for couples who want to host a full wedding weekend where friends and family can truly relax and enjoy the experience. Definitely one of my favorite places on the coast for a staycation.
Folktale Winery is set among rolling vineyards, providing serene and picturesque spaces for a wedding weekend. Its indoor-outdoor areas make it perfect for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions, while guests can enjoy wine tasting and exploring the property. It’s a refined yet approachable venue that photographs beautifully in every season.
Carmel Valley Ranch combines oak-studded hills, elegant architecture, and spacious grounds. On-site accommodations, golf, and outdoor activities make it ideal for a full wedding weekend. Its versatile spaces and stunning natural light allow for beautiful photographs that capture both the celebration and the experience for guests.
Just a few miles from the charming town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Santa Lucia Preserve feels like its own private world. Spanning thousands of acres of protected land, the grounds are scattered with century-old oak trees that sweep across rolling hills, leading up to the elegant Hacienda. Every space is thoughtfully cared for, offering both privacy and understated elegance. From intimate gatherings to larger celebrations, Santa Lucia Preserve blends natural beauty with refined charm, making it one of the most spectacular venues on the Central Coast.
